Public Archaeology Field Sessions at the Ferguson Site at Historic London Town

When: Session #1: June 20, 21, 22, & 23    |   Session #2: June 27, 28, 29, & 30

Time: 9AM-3PM

Where: Anne Arundel County’s Archaeology Laboratory located at Historic London Town & Gardens, 

We will walk to the archaeological site.

Project Summary: The public is invited to join archaeologists from Anne Arundel County and the Lost Towns Project to excavate the 18th century archaeological site of Alexander Ferguson, a merchant, a tailor, and a prominent resident of the colonial seaport of London Town. No archaeological experience required; we’ll give you “On the Job Training!” Bring gloves, water and your curiosity! Enjoy the beauty and history of Historic London Town & Gardens and the South River while you participate in an actual live archaeological excavation uncovering artifacts that tell us about the former residents of this colonial town. Suitable for ages 12-100! Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.)

Experience history, archeology and horticulture at this 23 acre county park. Reconstruction of colonial buildings from the "lost town" of London, tours of the William Brown House (a national Historic Landmark), an 8-acre woodland garden and 2 historic gardens are featured.
