All about the Bay

Located in the Annapolis Countryside, or Southern Anne Arundel County (known as South County to locals), Herring Bay is the epitome of the Chesapeake Bay. Boasting a number of waterfront restaurants, marinas, things to do with the whole family, and easy access for boaters, it’s a great place to get away from it all.

Coming by boat and looking for somewhere to dock and soak up the beauty of the Chesapeake Bay? If you’d like to set foot on land and stay overnight at a luxurious beach front eco-resort, that’s an option here too. Herrington Harbour is the largest privately owned marina in Maryland, voted "Best Resort Marina on the Bay" and "Best Boatyard on the Bay" by Chesapeake Bay Magazine readers.

If enjoying the sunset with a drink in hand and meal on the way sounds like your idea of a good time, the area has a number of dockside restaurants to make the most out of an evening on the Bay.

There are a number of historic maritime villages in the area as well, including the Herrington Harbour North area and, a little further north, the historic area of Galesville.

There are also plenty of fishing charters to choose from when visiting Herring Bay, Making for a perfect day out of the water with the whole family reeling in rockfish.

North Beach and Chesapeake Beach are two more great places to visit, located just south of Herring Bay. Aside from excellent lodging accommodations, there’s also the Chesapeake Beach Water Park to make for a great family day.
